Ride Start Locations:
Except for remote start rides, all rides start and finish from Agnora at 200 Mountain Road, with entry to the parking lot from Tenth Line; it is recommended that you show up 15 - 30 minutes beforehand as rides start rolling out the parking lot at 9:00 am sharp in spring, 8:30 am sharp during summer, and 9:00 am from 1 September onwards!
Wednesday morning rides start from Fisher Fields parking lot off Tenth Line at Sixth Street; check the Cycle Club app for start locations of other mid-week rides.
First time riders should arrive early and introduce yourself to a Ride Leader - look for their Ride Leader jerseys.
Ride Speeds:
Refer to the Pace/Distance Guidelines.
We try to accommodate everyone but CAN'T! Some days many of us want a challenge and opt for the next level up for a ride. This is a great way to get stronger and push yourself but please understand that we can't slow down a dozen riders because some can't keep up to the average posted speed. If you are up for the challenge, make sure you know the route because you may need to get home on your own.
Maintaining proper levels of both can make the difference between an enjoyable outing and unhappily not being able to finish said outing. Making sure you carry and consume around 100g of carbohydrates and approximately 500ml of water per hour is a simple guideline.
Advance Ride Registration:
The Club uses an app called Cycle Club for Ride Leader assignment, advance ride registration, as well as to communicate start times, routes, ride cancellations, etc.
How to use the Cycle Club app:
The use of the Cycle Club app is mandatory and once registered you will receive an invitation to set up your Cycle Club account; it may take up to 24 hours to receive this invite and you cannot just show-up to a ride at the last minute.
Once you have received your invitation to set up the Cycle Club app, go to the appropriate app store (IOS or Android) and download the app named Cycle Club. Follow the app instructions to register as a user and be sure to use the same email address that you used to register for the current season CCC Membership. Search for Collingwood Cycling Club in the app, click on the CCC entry to enter our Club area and view the CCC Dashboard; for the main menu, click on the 3 horizontal bars at the top right hand corner of the screen. Explore the available options:
Events to view the ride calendar.
Announcements for news.
Profile to view your account details.
You can now enroll for a ride; CCC offers rides Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday morning & evening, Saturday & Sundays. If you get a message that you are NOT a member, press the button associated with the error message and it will send an email to the CCC Contact and we will remedy the situation.
Ride cancellations are no longer posted on the day of the ride; Club insured & sanctioned rides are cancelled due to weather if it is raining at the start of the ride or there is a forecast of 70% POP or more of rain or lightening or extremely high winds (50 kph+), for the duration of the ride, based on hourly forecast on The Weather Network. Of course that doesn’t mean you can’t ride, it just means that we don’t recommend you ride and that Ride Leaders will not be attending in that capacity. You’re welcome to ride in any sort of weather but for safety reasons we can’t authorize it.
Remember we try our best to keep you safe and that we are only as good as the weather forecasts!
